Media

Martin Chautari’s work on media encompasses all five aspects of the institution’s work domains. These include research on media in Nepal, mentoring of young researchers, and publication of books on various aspects of the Nepali media and an annual journal Media Adhyayan. MC’s media related work also includes the development of a special collection of books on media in Nepal and abroad. This special collection of about 3500 books, theses, reports and other reference items is the largest of its kind in any reference library in Nepal. Online search of that collection is available via the MC Library search program. Since 2001 MC has also organized a media discussion series which currently meets every Thursday. It has also organized an annual media research conference since 2010.

MC’s media research work is done by a group of full-time researchers based at the institution. As part of MC’s broader effort to promote media research in Nepal, it has offered research fellowships to MA thesis writers and independent researchers since 2006. A list of the fellowships awarded to date and an internal evaluation of how this program has been executed until mid- 2011 can be found by clicking the links below.
