Kumar Pandey
Kumar Pandey is a Fulbright Scholar with a Master’s degree in Business Administration (2006) from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, US and has an undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering (1991) from Brown University. With more than 30 years of experience in the power industry in Nepal, including engineering, design, construction and operation of power plants, his expertise lies in project identification, project optimization, and project implementation. He is nationally and internationally recognized for his knowledge on policies and practices pertaining to hydropower development in Nepal as well as power trading in the region. He is the Executive Chairman of National Hydro Power Company (NHPC), (www.nhpcl.com), a publicly traded company which is developing numerous other hydro power plants. He is also Director of Millennium Challenge Account Development Board, Nepal, which will be overseeing the implementation of the US Government funded US$ 500 million project (MCC) to construct high voltage transmission lines and maintain roads in Nepal.
